Bernard Slade created a sparkling romantic comedy with a huge heart when he wrote TRIBUTE, a father and son story of incredible warmth and humor. The play is about a father searching for a son, a son’s acceptance of his father, and a man who is everyone’s friend and nobody’s hero. The plot focused on Scottie Templeton, a charming, popular personality who has spent his life shirking responsibility as he tap dances through life. When he discovers he is terminally ill, he attempts to reconnect with his long-estranged son - thus setting the stage for Slade’s magical play of family love and redemption.
